Successfully writing the CFA National Exam, holding professional liability insurance and having current CPR/first aid qualifications are all mandatory requirements for professional members of the CFA. Continuing education units (CEUs) are required to maintain professional Membership Status.
Professional members consist of all individual members of the Corporation who have achieved certification by the Canadian Federation of Aromatherapists. They are practicing Aromatherapists who carry professional liability insurance, First Aid/CPR and must follow the CFA Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. They are entitled to use the designation CAHP (Certified Aromatherapy Health Practitioner) and are able to vote at meetings of the Corporation as voting members.
International members must be CFA course graduates, having successfully completed the CFA National Exam. They are not required to carry insurance through the CFA. They are not required to have First Aid/CPR certification.
Aromatologist/Aromachologist members shall consist of all members who are educated in aromatherapy and do not practice hands on body work, who have met the educational requirements, hold professional liability insurance, First Aid/CPR and must follow the CFA Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. They are entitled to use the designation CAHP (Certified Aromatherapy Health Practitioner) and are able to vote at meetings of the Corporation as voting members.
Non-practicing Professional members in the Corporation shall consist of all members of the Corporation who are Aromatherapists who have met the educational requirements, but are not carrying liability insurance due to personal reasons (i.e. medical, emotional, financial) and who follow the CFA Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. They are entitled to use the designation CAHP (Certified Aromatherapy Health Practitioner) and are able to vote at meetings of the Corporation as voting members. They do not receive a seal for their certificate until active status is resumed.
Professional Instructor members in the Corporation shall consist of all members of the Corporation who have obtained the instructor requirements of the CFA, are currently teaching an aromatherapy program which meets the CFA core curriculum, has been a CFA member for the previous two years before applying for this membership category. They must hold personal/property liability insurance for themselves and their students. They must maintain their CPR certification and must follow the CFA Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. They are entitled to use the designation CAHP (Certified Aromatherapy Health Practitioner) and are able to vote at meetings of the Corporation as voting members.
Student member members of the Corporation shall consist of all students taking an aromatherapy course from a CFA approved instructor. Student members shall not be entitled to vote at meetings of the Corporation and shall be designated as Non-Voting members.
Affiliate members of the Corporation shall be open to the general public, or any individual with a genuine interest in aromatherapy. Affiliate members shall not be entitled to vote at meetings of the Corporation and shall be designated as Non-Voting members.
